Guardianship, Conservatorship & Power of Attorney Webinar on Dec. 6 

Michigan law provides legal authority to act and make decisions on another person’s behalf through the appointment of a guardian or conservator. Guardianship and conservatorship are very serious legal steps that receive close scrutiny from Michigan probate courts for an obvious reason: they take away an individual’s rights and freedom.

During a Dec. 6 webinar, attorney David Wolfe will review the differences between conservators, guardians and powers of attorney as they relate to minors, an individual deemed incapacitated and to someone who has been empowered to handle another individual's financial matters. Credit unions dealing with a conservator, guardian or power of attorney need to be familiar not only with the legal requirements, but also with the issues relating to practical application of the law and to avoid costly mistakes, inadvertently relinquishing confidential financial information and/or improperly disbursing funds.
