HARRIS – The MCUL's U.P. Chapter hosted its annual meeting for the first time at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris. About 15 miles west of Escanaba, this location is more central for the U.P. and provided a new venue for this year's participants.

This year's events included a CEO luncheon on Friday with MCUL & Affiliates CEO David Adams providing an update on issues, initiatives and solutions that the league is working on. There was a large vendor expo on Friday evening and the annual elections and business meeting on Saturday in the main showroom.

Awards were presented for the highest percentage of 2012 state and federal PAC fundraising goals in addition to individual awards recognizing the CU leader of the year, Pam Bottkol, CEO of Menominee County FCU. Chapter Chairwoman Diane Moilanen and MCUL board Director Connie Toensing also invited Congressman Dan Benishek, R-Iron Mountain, to participate in the event, allowing him an opportunity to provide an update from Washington on several issues in addition to him taking questions from participants in the audience.
