Congress is currently considering a complete overhaul of the federal tax code. Because congressional leaders said that they were starting with a “clean sheet of paper,” credit unions have started a movement to let their elected leaders know that they want the credit union tax exemption to go back in the new tax code.

MCUL & Affiliates received statements of support from Democrats Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Sen. Carl Levin. In the House, the league has received statements of support from Democrats Dan Kildee, Gary Peters, Sander Levin and John Dingell and Republicans David Camp, Mike Rogers, Tim Walberg, Dan Benishek and Kerry Bentivolio.
