The month of October is historically celebrated by our credit unions as “Co-op Month” and in particular, Oct. 17, is recognized as “International Credit Union Day.” This year’s theme, “Credit Unions Unite for Good,” celebrate how credit unions improve the lives of individuals, families, communities, and countries around the world.
To help credit unions celebrate Co-op Month throughout the month of October, MCUL is conducting an online auction to raise money to support MCULAF, the MCUL state PAC. MCULAF dollars assist with advocacy efforts to further credit unions legislative agenda in Lansing.
"Similar to the very successful Charity Match Silent Auction at the MCUL & Affiliates Annual Convention and Exposition, this event will be a great opportunity to purchase some nice items as we enter the holiday season, help raise critically important state PAC funds, and benefit a great charitable cause in Children’s Miracle Network," MCUL & Affiliates CEO David Adams said.
Consider making a donation or financial contribution to sponsor an item in this year’s auction. Should you choose to sponsor or donate a specific item, your name along with your credit union’s name will be listed along with that item in any publicity prior to and after the auction, as well as on the auction website.
The auction will open for bidding at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, and bidding will close at noon on Friday, Oct. 18. To bid, a person must be a member of a MCUL-affiliated credit union and the winning bidder's credit union will have the bidder's MCULAF contribution credited toward their 2013 MCULAF goal.
"We'll release more details about the MCULAF Online Auction shortly, but in the meantime we ask that credit unions make plans to publicize the event to their employees, boards and members as part of their ‘Co-op Month’ publicity," Adams said.
