Training Session Offered on Innovative Approach to Retirement Planning

Would you like to learn how your credit union could help your members better prepare for all aspects of retirement?  The National CU Foundation has developed an innovative experiential learning program which credit unions can use to help their members and potential members better plan for their retirement.

The Retirement Fairs are predominantly aimed at working adults and are intended to help participants picture their lives during retirement so they can save accordingly to support their expected lifestyle.

During the fair, participants are asked to make some predictions about their likely lifestyle choices in retirement and are provided with information about the expenses they will encounter based on these expected choices. The Fair then helps participants link their lifestyle choices and costs to their retirement savings plan.  Since change is a constant, participants are encouraged to review the materials periodically and make adjustments in their expense projections as they approach retirement.

REAL Solutions Field Coach Mark Lynch created the Retirement Fair.  REAL Solutions is NCUF’s signature program. REAL ― “Relevant, Effective, Asset-building, Loyalty-producing” — Solutions works through state credit union leagues to help credit unions make the difference for members, families and communities.

Lynch will host a Retirement Fair along with a train-the-trainer session on Wednesday, Sept. 25, in Lansing at MSUFCU.
