Peer Interaction and Networking Opportunities Abound for Volunteers at Leadership Development Event

The busy pace of business combined with everyday obligations can make it a challenge to meet new people, be introduced to leading edge ideas and keep up on best practices. At the MCUL & Affiliates Fall Leadership Development Conference, credit union leaders have an opportunity to step back, enjoy a change of scenery and focus their thoughts and attention by being immersed in "all-things credit union." This year the popular event takes place near Traverse City, Sept. 13-15, at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.

Because meeting peers from other credit unions and interacting with colleagues is an important aspect of attending the event, many great activities are being planned for all three days to make it easy and comfortable for everyone to network and have fun.

Starting during registration on Friday evening, Sept. 13, comfortable seating and popcorn will be provided along with a movie-showing beginning at 5:30 p.m. so attendees can meet-up with friends for some social time, relax and unwind for a while. New this year is a 'Welcome Afterglow' event taking place Friday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a hosted bar and light snacks, along with the showing of a second movie.

The conference also features an optional offsite networking trip on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 14, with a scenic motor coach excursion to the Grand Traverse Distillery for a tasting from Michigan's oldest micro-distillery, followed by a stop at Harbor 22 Bar and Grill for a tasty sampling of dessert, before heading to downtown Traverse City to stroll, shop and explore sites.

Saturday evening features a networking dinner banquet, providing more time to meet other attendees, exchange ideas and find out what other credit union professionals are doing to be successful.
