2013 Education Catalog Distributed to CUs and Available Online
A 20-page catalog highlighting 2013 conferences, workshops and remote learning opportunities for Michigan credit union professionals has recently been sent to affiliated league members and an online version is available by clicking here. The expanded catalog includes a calendar of MCUL & Affiliates training events, and features information about important conferences such as the Annual Convention and Exposition, Lending and Marketing Conference, Governmental Affairs Conference, Spring and Fall Leadership Development Conferences, Executive Summit and HR, Trainer and Supervisor Institute. Details about one-day events such as Compliance From A-Z, Collector's Training School, IRA Essentials and Beyond Essentials, Memory Magic and the Telephone Collections School are also shared.

The catalog is packed with information about important compliance topics including CFPB training and includes dates for select CUNA conferences and CUES events, as well as resources such as Webinars, Webinars on Demand, CUBE TV, CUcorp Consulting services and Community Reinvestment Initiatives, to provide credit unions broad access to educational tools. Hotel Rooms May Now be Reserved for 2013 Annual Convention and Exposition
Those interested in booking hotel accommodations for the MCUL & Affiliates 2013 Annual Convention and Exposition may now do so. The popular event will be held May 16-18 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center and will feature Josh Linkner, author of the New York Time's bestselling book "Disciplined Dreaming" as the opening keynote speaker. Linkner is also well known as the CEO and managing partner of Detroit Venture Partners and as the founder, chairman and former CEO of ePrize.
The AC&E will also feature Steve Gilliland, author of the bestselling book "Enjoy the Ride", plus a great selection of outstanding educational sessions, credit union recognition honors awards, superb networking experiences, a CUES luncheon, extended exposition hours with national vendors, fun activities for guests and a Saturday afternoon Ovation cruise on the Detroit River. Spring Leadership Development Conference Agenda Set
Registration is now open for the 2013 Spring Leadership Development Conference, featuring a top-notch agenda of topics that is expected to draw very strong attendance from credit union volunteers and CEOs. Well-known financial industry consultant Tim Harrington will be on hand to deliver a keynote titled, "Are You a Credit Union of the Future?" Harrington will be joined by a panel of three Michigan credit union professionals and will also deliver two breakout sessions at the conference, "Putting the Credit Back into Credit Unions" and "Leadership and Succession Planning for the Board" – all sessions that were chosen based on feedback from past conference attendees.

The popular conference for credit union volunteers and CEOs will once again be at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant. The event takes place March 15-17 and will feature a specially themed St. Patrick's Day dinner banquet, complete with Celtic dancers. Lending and Marketing Professionals Head to Grand Rapids in 2013
Dozens of Michigan credit union professional have begun to register for the MCUL & Affiliates 2013 Lending and Marketing Conference, slated for Feb. 12-13 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids. Marketers are creating a buzz about hearing industry authority Mark Arnold's keynote address on "Community Marketing With a Generational Twist," along with breakout sessions including "Building a Lasting Brand" and "Promotions 101 – Tear it Up" – a workshop where attendees are encouraged to bring marketing collateral for group critique and ideas. Lenders are also lining up for sessions that address the unique challenges they are experiencing and to hear consultant Pierre Cardenas deliver the keynote "Trends Hitting the Banking Industry" and breakout sessions on "Relationship Pricing/Lending" and "Strategic Lending Programs."

The Lending and Marketing Conference has built a solid reputation as an outstanding value for in-state training that features national-level speakers and topics. Compliance From A-Z Ideal for Staffers With Compliance Responsibilities
The popular compliance overview event formerly known as Compliance for Executives, has a new broadened focus and has been renamed Compliance From A-Z. Providing information ideal for all levels of credit union staffers with compliance responsibilities, the one-day conference offers a selection of breakout topics to provide important updates on a variety of key compliance areas. Attendees will find breakout sessions on "10 Steps to Building and Maintaining a Successful Regulatory Compliance Program," "Compliance in Advertising," "Fair Lending Reg B/C," "Service Members SCRA," "Top Compliance Mistakes" and much more. The event wraps up with a closing session featuring a "Compliance Roundtable."

Compliance From A-Z will take place Feb. 14 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, following the Lending and Marketing Conference Feb. 12-13.
