Freshman U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee Appointed to House Financial Services Committee

Earlier this month, freshman Rep. Dan Kildee, D-Flint, was appointed to the prestigious House Financial Services Committee in Congress. Kildee will become the third Michigan congressman to serve on the current panel, joining Reps. Gary Peters, D-Bloomfield Twp., and Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland. Rep. Kildee heads to Congress with a strong credit union background. Kildee specifically requested that he be placed on financial services following his election in the fall of 2012. The MCUL & Affiliates government affairs team was pleased to see yet another Michigan representative join the panel and looks forward to working with Rep. Kildee and his staff in the coming weeks and months. Additionally, Rep. Kildee was selected by House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer to serve as an assistant whip. In this leadership role, Kildee will assist the House Democratic Leadership in managing legislative matters on the floor.
