On behalf of the Michigan Credit Union League, thank you for your support over the past year. Our 2023 Annual Convention & Exposition, as well as year-round education and advocacy events, were filled with meaningful conversations and networking opportunities because of our members’ collaborative spirit.
This year was full of challenges, whether it was inflation, rising interest rates, the threat of the Credit Card Competition Act or “junk fees” rhetoric. Through it all, Michigan credit unions stood strong as a united front in Washington, D.C. and as financial providers to 5.99 million members. MCUL is honored to be a part of a movement that is dedicated to making Michigan a better place.
For 2024, we made a change to our dues structure in an effort to modernize and adapt to the evolving landscape of credit unions. To do so, we sought the input of Michigan credit union CEOs, spanning small-, medium- and large-asset institutions, to review and refine our existing formula.
These changes strategically promote equitable dues allocation across our diverse asset ranges. Importantly, we will maintain the lowest dues in the country, and this commitment to affordability remains steadfast as we continue to explore opportunities for enhancing services and benefits, reinforcing our support for our members and the entire credit union movement.
In the 2024 affiliation portal, you can review and pay your dues invoice. To the left is a short video with some additional background about the dues modernization process. We’ve also highlighted some key points in the document linked below. But, as always, please reach out to your league rep if you have any questions.
We’re also excited to share some of the changes in benefits offered to our credit unions contributing at the Awareness Champion (formerly full-fair-share) level to our Try a Credit Union consumer awareness campaign. Be sure to check out the consumer awareness campaign flier linked below and our consumer awareness website for the full list of exclusive benefits our Awareness Champion supporters will receive.
For the past eight years, we’ve had 100% of our members contribute to the awareness campaign. We thank you for your commitment to our cooperative advertising efforts and ask that you continue to support the advancement of the credit union movement in our great state.
Going into next year, the League, along with our national partners, want to continue supporting and protecting the cooperative credit union movement at the state and federal level. Everything we do is with this in mind. But we can’t do it alone. To be our best, we need your support. MCUL has always believed that we’re stronger when we’re leading together.
Your continued dedication to the league system is a commitment to making a difference in your community, the state of Michigan and our nation. Our entire team thanks you once again for your continued commitment to the credit union movement and the members you serve.
