FreeStar Financial Surpasses $20K Total Donations for Vets Returning Home with Recent 'Night at the Races' Event

FreeStar Financial Credit Union shared the success of its annual "Night at the Races" event held at the Gazebo Banquet Center. This  night added $10,681 to total donations, all earmarked to benefit Vets Returning Home. Recent contributions, including a grant from the Michigan Credit Union Foundation and funds raised by FreeStar Financial for 25 clothing bins, propelled total donations to over $20,000.

Featuring thrilling virtual horse races, exciting raffle prizes, and an array of delicious food and drinks, "Night at the Races" was more than just an evening of entertainment; it was a call to action for the community. Attendees donned their best derby attire, placed bets and cheered their horses to victory all while contributing to an important cause.

"Seeing such enthusiasm and generosity from our community is truly humbling," said Vicki McIntosh, VP of community affairs at FreeStar Financial. "This isn't just about banking; it's about belonging, connecting, and making a substantial difference in the community and the lives of our nation's heroes."

The amount raised will significantly aid Vets Returning Home in their mission to assist veterans in their transition back to civilian life.

"Your generosity has truly made a difference in the lives of those who have served our country," said Sandy Bower, founder of Vets Returning Home.

"We can't wait to continue this amazing journey together and create more unforgettable memories at next year's event," said McIntosh.
