Dow Credit Union Named Best CU in Midland

The readers of the Midland Daily News have, once again, elected Dow Credit Union as the best credit union in Midland.

Each year, the publication polls its audience to determine the most beloved businesses in the region. Midlanders show their support for everything from all-you-can-eat buffets to oil changes, celebrating the professionals who have earned their trust as well as their patronage.

This is not the institution’s first victory in the credit union category, having earned the electorate’s support for 8 of the past 9 years.

“What sets us apart is not just effort, but achievement,” CEO Michael Goad said. “We strive, and we succeed. Our savings rates tower over the averages across the industry.”

Goad explained that Midlanders know Dow Credit Union as their best choice to maximize earnings. As of October, the institution’s certificates of deposit remained unmatched in the Great Lakes Bay Region. According to NerdWallet, their high-yield savings accounts’ annual percentage yield bested the national savings average by a factor of seven.

The annual Member Giveback program has also fostered goodwill in the community. Dow Credit Union has shared its earnings with members in good standing at the conclusion of every fiscal year since 1980, awarding $14 million in 2022 alone.

Community Relations Director LaShanta Green added that the credit union’s commitment to being a multiplier for good in the community also played a role. Avid readers of the Midland Daily News encountered such headlines as “Dow Credit Union awards $15k in scholarships,” “Midland County Habitat for Humanity, Dow Credit Union help homeowners in need” and “Open Door receives donation from Dow Credit Union” in the past few months alone.

While Dow Credit Union also launched a second location in Saginaw this year, Green reiterated a commitment to providing the same award-worthy products and service to members in both counties.

“We want express gratitude to all of our members for the vote of confidence,” Green said. “We are only the best credit union in the Great Lakes Bay region thanks to the trust and support of our membership.”
