United Financial's Paws and Claws Animal Rescue Collection Gives Back to Local Shelters
United Financial Credit Union is committed to giving back to the communities and was excited to be able to help local animal rescues in need by holding its Paws and Claws Animal Rescue Collection Drive.
Over the last few years, there has been an uptick in pet surrenders and a decrease in donations, leaving animal shelters struggling as they work to keep pets fed, as they rely on donations. United Financial's collection was an attempt to help offset those statistics.
"United Financial wants to give a huge thank you to all the animal lovers that helped make this collection drive extremely successful," said the credit union in a press release.
Over 1,000 items were collected, along with $580 in monetary donations. All of the items and cash collected at their Bay County branches was donated to the Humane Society of Bay County and all of the items and cash donated at their Saginaw County branches was given to Amazing Grace Animal Rescue.
The donations came at the perfect time, each organization was in high demand of the pet food and supplies. The Humane Society of Bay County and Amazing Grace Animal Rescue are non-profit, no-kill shelters, volunteer-run and both operate on donations.
"United Financial Credit Union was formed on the principle of cooperation. We believe we’re stronger when we work together for the good of all. That’s why our mission goes beyond financial services and goes beyond our doors, we’re committed to giving back to the community; by spreading kindness, supporting our members and our local neighborhoods."
