2023 AC&E: A Successful Corks for a Cause Kicks Off the Event
The 2023 MCUL Annual Convention & Exposition (AC&E), at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel & DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, kicked off on Wednesday evening with a joint Welcome Reception and Corks for a Cause party.
Corks for a Cause, a networking and fundraising event to benefit the Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF), made its seventh annual appearance at the AC&E, and in those years, it has become an attendee favorite.
It mixes an exciting wine-pull (and wine-swap) station with meeting and greeting friends and colleagues, all in the name of supporting credit union community development outreach through MCUF.
This year, the Foundation introduced a new element: a craft beer-tasting experience that expands the event’s offerings and options for participation.
“On behalf of the Michigan Credit Union Foundation, we’d like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s 2023 Corks for a Cause event. The wine-pull-style fundraiser is one that provides fun and entertainment and kicks off the AC&E in style,” said Andrea Tucker, MCUL’s foundation and events specialist. “Conference attendees who purchase Corks for a Cause wine-pull tickets in advance or onsite, and/or participate in the brand-new beer tasting experience, as well as our business donors for the event, all help support MCUF initiatives.”
During the 2023 event, Corks for a Cause raised more than $36,000 for MCUF — nearly $7,000 more than last year.
“All donations support credit union community enrichment grants and financial education activities,” continued Tucker. “And speaking of business donors, we’d like to recognize those that have provided support and helped make Corks for a Cause possible: Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union, Holzman Law, PLLC, Neighborhood Mortgage Solutions, TruStage, Commercial Alliance, Co-Op Solutions, Corporate Central Credit Union, Eltropy, IZALE Financial Group, Member Driven Technologies, Michigan Business Connection, Mission Insurance Solutions, Mortgage Center, Origence, PSCU, PULSE, a Discover Company, Spave, State National and Trellance.”
