FreeStar Hosts Community Day to Benefit Vets Returning Home

The Richmond Community Day held by FreeStar FInancial Credit Union, on May 20 at Beebe Park, was a resounding success, with over 325 attendees joining the free event filled with food, music, games, a dunk tank, prizes and much more. The community day was also a platform for a good cause, with all proceeds going to the non-profit organization, Vets Returning Home.

“The turnout for this event exceeded our expectations,” said Marketing Manager Nick Couture. “We're incredibly grateful for the community's support and their enthusiasm for our 'Crack the Safe' game. It's heartening to see so many people come together not just for fun, but also to support a cause as important as helping our veterans’ transition back into stable lives.”

The highlight of the event was the much-anticipated "Crack the Safe" game, which gave attendees aged 18 and above a chance to win $50,000. Over 200 participants tried their luck at cracking the safe, generating excitement and camaraderie among attendees.

The day was filled with activities for all ages. Children enjoyed various games, while adults socialized among team members and enjoyed in the music provided by a local DJ. A cornhole game added a friendly competitive spirit to the event. Delicious food provided by Ken’s Country Kitchen of Richmond, was plentiful, and enjoyed by all.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Vets Returning Home, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending chronic homelessness among veterans in our communities.

With the success of this year's Richmond Community Day, FreeStar's plans are already underway for next year's event, promising more family fun and opportunities to support the local community.
