Michigan Credit Union Leaders Voted to FHLBI Board of Directors

The Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) is pleased to announce that two Michigan credit union community members were elected to the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBI) last week. The FHLBank System was created to support mortgage lending and community investment. FHLBI has been serving the liquidity needs of Michigan and Indiana, which includes credit unions, since 1932.

Jackie Buchanan, President/CEO of Genisys Credit Union (headquartered in Auburn Hills), and Peg Lamb, SVP and Chief Risk Officer for People Driven Credit Union (headquartered in Southfield), won their bid for the FHLBI Board. Buchanan and Lamb unseated two incumbent board members that represented banks and were seeking re-election.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Michigan Credit Union League and to FHLBI members who elected me to the Board of Directors of the FHLBI,” said Buchanan. “I am honored to have the opportunity to represent the interests of all the FHLBI members and will work tirelessly to ensure continued success of the organization. I look forward to collaborating with our members, the Board of Directors of the FHLBI, as well as with the FHLBI team. Together, we will strive to make informed decisions that will benefit our members, strengthen our communities and uphold the values of our mission.”

“I was very excited to receive the news that I had been elected to the FHLB Indianapolis Board of Directors and am looking forward to working with Cindy Konich and the rest of the Board,” said Lamb. “MCUL’s support was crucial in securing my election and I’m eager to actively contribute to the success of the Indianapolis FHLB as a representative of Michigan credit unions.”

MCUL President/CEO Patty Corkery said, “The election of Jackie and Peg is recognition from the voters that their expertise in our industry will make them great additions to the FHLBI Board. Securing the vote over several others seeking the seats, all working at banks, shows that when our credit union community comes together, we make things happen! I am grateful to our Michigan FHLBI members for supporting these two credit union rockstars!”
