Optional National Archives, Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery Trip Details:

What: MCUL is offering 2024 Hike the Hill attendees with an exciting opportunity to tour three of Washington D.C.’s most historic sites- the National Archives, the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.  The National Archives is home to the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and other key documents from our nation’s history.  The Lincoln Memorial sits on the western end of the National Mall and pays tribute to our 16th President.  Arlington National Cemetery participants will witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknow Soldier, and view President John F. Kennedy’s Gravesite. 

The 3-stop tour is an optional part of Hike the Hill. MCUL has reserved a bus with Private Tours of Washington and a tour guide will be with us the entire time to provide interesting information and facts along the way and to answer any of your questions.  

Price: $100 per person, includes the cost of bus transportation from Phoenix Park Hotel to the National Archives, Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery and return back to the hotel.  MCUL will have some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages on the bus.

Itinerary:

Wednesday, September 11th -

*Guests may want to grab a bite to eat prior to the start of the tour as lunch will not be provided and is not available at any of the stops.

• 11:30am- Those wishing to go on the optional trip will depart the Phoenix Park Hotel via a Private Tours of Washington bus
  • Stop #1- National Archives
    • Guests will get a view of the National Mall, Washington Monument, and the White House (south side) from the bus on the way to the Lincoln Memorial.
  • Stop #2- Lincoln Memorial
  • Stop #3- Arlington National Cemetery
• 2:30pm- Return to the Phoenix Park Hotel

*Note: For those traveling back to Michigan on Wednesday, September 11th who would like to participate in the tour, Delta Airlines offers two non-stop flights leaving DCA for DTW after the tour has concluded:  

• Delta flight #1454
  • Departing DCA at 5:36pm, arriving DTW at 7:15pm
• Delta flight #2030
  • Departing DCA at 8:15pm, arriving DTW at 9:50pm

Delta may offer other flight options with stops back to Detroit and other airlines provide service between the two cities as well.
