Harrington on Future Forward Leadership and Innovation at Spring Leadership Development Conference

“The Board’s role is to substitute foresight for hindsight.” That is the first line of a great governance policy and one of the main focuses of the general session to be delivered by Tim Harrington at the MCUL Spring Leadership Development Conference. The well-known event offered for credit union board members takes place April 19-21 at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant.

While directors have a basic fiduciary role to ensure the credit union is safe as possible, in the fast-changing financial services world, the board needs to be collaborating with management in looking at the future and asking again and again, how are we going to survive the massive changes? Harrington will discuss ideas on how to make a credit union board a group of “futuristic thinkers,” how to change views about “innovation” and the “failures” that naturally accompany it, how to re-establish a relationship to “risk” and see it as a worthy thing.
