1,400 Ann Arbor and Saline Community members Participate in MSGCU’s Shop Local, Bank Local
Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) recently teamed up with 12 businesses in Ann Arbor and Saline to present Shop Local, Bank Local events this summer. This initiative was created to give back to MSGCU’s neighbors and introduce the credit union to the community. While MSGCU has served members for 70 years, it recently opened two branches in Washtenaw County in Ann Arbor and Saline.
MSGCU selected the partner businesses to encourage local shopping and support its neighbors. Community members were invited to attend the events, where they could shop at participating local retailers and play a fun MSGCU spin-to-win game for the chance to receive a variety of prizes. Each event featured over $2,000 in prizes, including gift cards purchased by MSGCU from local businesses, deposits into savings or checking accounts and MSGCU swag.
To support financial wellness for the community, MSGCU awarded multiple Certificates of Deposit during the events. Two CDs were also awarded as grand prizes at its Ann Arbor and Saline branch offices. Winners chose their term, allowing them to see first-hand how compounding CD interest can help them save for their goals.
“Shop Local, Bank Local featured prizes and special loan and CD offers that reflect MSGCU’s mission to promote financial success for our members and communities,” said MSGCU CEO Steve Brewer. “This program was a unique way to invest locally and partner with municipalities and businesses to support sustainable communities.”
