Consumers Credit Union Launches Innovative On-Campus Worksite at GVSU
Consumers Credit Union and Grand Valley State University (GVSU) have partnered together to open an on-campus worksite in the Seidman College of Business in downtown Grand Rapids. Four GVSU students are starting their careers with the credit union as part-time tellers powering TellerPlus+ stations across the state of Michigan. Students work from the newly renovated TellerPlus+ Hub in the Seidman College of Business. Consumers and GVSU celebrated the launch of this innovative pilot program during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Feb. 25.
“We are looking at this pilot program as a way for students to be able to work on campus around their busy schedules and have the opportunity for post-graduation career opportunities at Consumers,” said Consumers CEO Scott Sylvester. “We’re also proud of our partnership with the Laker Accelerated Talent Link Program connecting seniors to employee partners.
“Having a TellerPlus+/ATM on site is showcasing the GVSU talent driving our state-wide TellerPlus+ network, the largest in the state of Michigan.”
“The partnership between GVSU and Consumers Credit Union creates external experiential learning opportunities right here on campus,” said GVSU Director of Corporate Partnerships Mallory Brouwer. “Helping students build their resume while being able to remain on campus eliminates barriers and creates access for students who may not have the ability to access off-campus opportunities. Continuing to innovate the ways we partner as a community, while creating accessible learning opportunities for students, is what makes GVSU a unique place to partner, grow and learn.”
The TellerPlus+ team, powered by GVSU, provides full-service banking with extended banking hours. TellerPlus+ is a state-of-the-art technology with video accessibility and traditional full banking services.
