Honor Launches Pantry PowerUp: $30K to Stock Shelves Across Michigan

This fall, Honor Credit Union is taking action to stock shelves and combat food insecurity across Michigan with Honor's Pantry PowerUp initiative. In an effort to support its local communities, Honor is donating a total of $30,000 to food banks throughout the six regions they serve in Michigan. Their goal is to stock shelves and address the urgent needs of families and individuals facing economic hardships.

Founded in 1934, Honor Credit Union has grown to 28 locations statewide, maintaining a steadfast connection to the local community. The organization has a long history of supporting vital causes and is now focusing on combating food shortages by stocking shelves across the state.

“Traditionally, food drives peak around the holidays, but this year we’ve observed an unprecedented and immediate need,” said Scott McFarland, CEO at Honor Credit Union. “Our Pantry PowerUp initiative reflects one of our team commitments, ‘See a Need, Fill a Need.’ We are blessed to be part of our communities, and we feel this is great way to give back.”

Team Honor distributed to several local food banks and pantries and provided funds or essential food items for the below listed organizations:

This proactive approach aligns with September’s Hunger Action Month, a nationwide effort to raise awareness about hunger in America and inspire action. As grocery costs rise, Honor’s donations are designed to alleviate the burden on these vital organizations and enhance their ability to serve the community. This reflects Honor’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and its core values as a credit union.

Honor encourages everyone to join in supporting local food banks and other community initiatives. Contributions, whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, all play a crucial role in making a difference.
