Michigan Credit Unions Raise $287K on 2024 CU Kind Day
On Oct. 14, credit unions across Michigan took part in CU Kind Day, an annual tradition showcasing the credit union difference through donations and volunteering. For the second year, the Michigan credit union movement took part in CU Kind Day by giving back to the community in a variety of ways.
In total, 69 credit unions and credit union partners participated, which meant 4,258 volunteers impacted 622 organizations and generated $287,499 in goods and donations to communities across the state. This is almost three times the amount raised in 2023.
The Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) team participated in the 2024 CU Kind Day by Volunteering at the Greater Lansing Food Bank, a non-profit ensuring families and neighbors in the Lansing area have access to the nutritious food they need to support their health and well-being.
MCUL put together a publication to show the works that the Michigan credit union movement did for 2024 CU Kind Day. You can check it out here.
“CU Kind Day has become an annual tradition for MCUL and credit unions around the state to take a day to shine a light on all the good work that we are doing. This year, we had a major increase in the number of credit unions tagging #CUKindDay to harness all the great work that is being done in Michigan communities, and we were thrilled that our MCUL foundation offered grants to help some credit unions embark on a cool idea. I look forward to continuing that trend in coming years,” said MCUL CEO Patty Corkery. “The pride we take in opportunities like CU Kind Day embodies how Michigan credit unions approach member service on a daily basis. Thank you to everyone who participated.”
