Public Service Awards 2024 Scholarship Recipients
Public Service Credit Union awarded ten deserving individuals $1,000 educational scholarships to aid with college or technical school. These scholarships are dedicated to those who have served as volunteers of PSCU in various roles for at least 40 years: John E. Breen, Jonathan D. Gallimore, Bernard Hanus, Carol Palazzolo, Nora Sharpley and Frederick F. Morgan.
These ten recipients were chosen from existing PSCU members who have shown academic promise, community involvement, and wish to further their education at a college level.
This year’s recipients are:
- Ava Cheff, a graduate of Trenton High School, will be attending Albion College.
- Thomas J. Calcut, a graduate of Grosse Ile High School, will be attending the University of Toledo to pursue mechanical engineering.
- Emani Williams, a graduate of Renaissance High School, will be attending the University of Michigan Ann Arbor to obtain her bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering.
- AnnMarie Pietras, a graduate of Trenton High School, will be attending the University of Michigan-Dearborn to obtain her bachelor’s degree in software engineering.
- Yazmin Torres is currently enrolled at Central Michigan University pursuing a degree in Law and Economics with a minor in Spanish: Legal Studies.
- Christina Thomas, a graduate of Woodhaven High School, will be attending Henry Ford College to pursue a bachelor’s degree in architecture.
- Alexis Montgomery is currently enrolled at Wayne State University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies with minors in Yoga and Mindfulness, and African American Studies.
- Shiann Proffitt is currently enrolled at Lake Superior State University pursuing a degree in Nursing.
- Zoe Neilson is currently enrolled at Hope College pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business and political science.
- RJ Howey, a graduate of Trenton High School, will be attending Michigan State University to pursue a degree in Animal Science.
Each of the winners will use their scholarships towards college, university or technical school classes.
