TLC Community Helps Local Radio Stations Raise $55K for Veterans
In November, WLEN and WQTE radio stations successfully hosted the 19th Annual Thank a Vet Day. This annual event, held in honor of Veterans Day, aims to raise funds and awareness for homeless and other veterans in need within Lenawee County.
This year's event generated an impressive $55,179.00 in just 12 hours, all of which will be distributed to the “Veterans Dire Need Fund” through Housing Help of Lenawee. WLEN and WQTE staff, local veterans’ organizations and community members came together to collect donations curbside, demonstrating the strong support for local heroes.
The funds raised will be used to provide essential assistance to veterans throughout the year, including:
- Rent and mortgage payments
- Utility bill assistance
- Storage facility fees
- Transportation stipends
- Basic necessities like boots and clothing
TLC Community Credit Union, once again, partnered with WLEN and WQTE, matching donations to the Happy Hundred Club by 50%. This contribution added $8,000 to the total.
To date, Thank a Vet Day has raised over $550,000 for Lenawee County veterans. The impact of this event continues to grow each year, making a significant difference in the lives of those who have served this country.
