PFCU provides $5,000 match for Portland Community Theater
The marquee on the Portland Community Theater, formerly the Sun Movie Theater, built in 1948, is original to the building. The Theater received a Capital Improvement Grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council to put towards a new marquee. Even with the grant, the theater still needed to raise additional monies to complete the project.
The Portland Civic Players partnered with PFCU and they were happy to help.
“We have had success in the past with providing a matching donation, we let PCP know that we would match up to $5,000 of donations received in the month of March.” said Michele Makley, PFCU’s CEO.
“The community really stepped up, collecting $12,555.00 in the month of March!” she continued. “As promised, we were able to match the $5,000 to bring the grand total to $17,555.00. This is a great example of People Helping People which is the credit union philosophy."
Mary Teachout, PCP Board President, said, “We have been working toward this goal for a few years now and we are so incredibly appreciative for the support from PFCU and the entire community that helped us exceed our match goal. We are proud of the space we have made and the theater family we have built. We hope to be part of the Portland Community for many years to come. LITTLE THEATER, BIG DREAMS!”
PFCU Employees joined members of the Portland Civic Players for a formal check presentation on Thursday afternoon.
