Why Your Affiliation Matters

Michigan’s credit union movement is 174 strong, serving over 6 million members — and together, we’re unstoppable. Through MCUL affiliation, Michigan’s voice carries from Lansing to Washington, protecting our tax status, advancing inclusion and shaping policy. You gain powerful advocacy, expert compliance support and top-tier education and networking that fuel growth, innovation and leadership statewide.

Thank you for your support of the Michigan Credit Union League in 2025. This past year showed us the difference we can make when we move as one — whether through advocacy wins, education opportunities or fundraising efforts that strengthen our collective voice.

In 2025, credit unions faced serious challenges, including threats to the federal tax status. By standing together, Michigan credit unions and our national partners protected the movement and demonstrated the power of collective advocacy.

As we look to next year, our priority remains ensuring Michigan credit unions are protected, promoted and well-positioned to meet their members’ needs. With America’s Credit Unions, we will continue to ensure Michigan credit unions are well represented at the state and federal levels, while delivering the resources you count on to operate effectively.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

When you affiliate with MCUL and America’s Credit Unions, you strengthen Michigan’s credit unions and the members they serve. Your dues directly power four key areas that drive our movement forward:
MCUL Advocacy

Affiliation ensures your credit union’s voice is heard. MCUL’s advocacy team drives legislation that protects your tax status, advances financial inclusion and strengthens the environment for credit union growth.

Try a Credit Union

Affiliating with MCUL powers Try a Credit Union — Michigan’s award-winning consumer awareness campaign that helps more people discover credit unions, boosting public trust and driving member growth statewide.

Michigan Credit Union Foundation

Affiliation supports MCUF’s work to advance financial education, community enrichment and professional development. Through grants, scholarships and outreach, the Foundation helps credit unions improve lives across Michigan.

America’s Credit Unions

Dual affiliation connects you to the national network that amplifies Michigan’s collective impact, provides powerful compliance and training resources and strengthens credit unions’ voice in shaping federal policy.

Credit Union House

Strengthening Our Voice in Washington

Credit Union House is more than a building on Capitol Hill — it’s the heartbeat of our movement in Washington, D.C., where credit unions unite to share their story and shape national policy. Now, as it undergoes an exciting modernization, this iconic space will become an immersive hub that reflects the strength, innovation and collaboration of our industry.

Please consider adding a donation with your affiliation invoice to help keep Michigan’s voice strong at the center of federal advocacy.
