Integra First Federal Credit Union Awarded MCUF Grant to Build Financial Literacy Exhibit at M&M Children’s Museum
The Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF) has awarded Integra First Federal Credit Union (IFFCU) a Community Enrichment Support grant of $11,817 to help bring an innovative credit union exhibit to the M&M Children’s Museum in Menominee, Michigan.
The exhibit will provide children and families with a fun, interactive space to explore real-world financial concepts. Features include a walk-in vault, a teller station with play money, and an interactive magnetic wall to practice currency exchange and savings goals. Children will also receive blank checks and a play debit card, giving them the opportunity to learn how to write checks and use a card reader in a hands-on way.
“In our community, there is a clear need for early financial literacy and education,” said Courtney Klitzke, IFFCU Branch Manager. “This exhibit will give children and families the chance to experience money management in a playful, approachable way while building skills that will last a lifetime.”
Beyond the permanent exhibit, IFFCU will use the space to host special education events for children and parents. Planned topics include What is a Credit Union, How to Save, and for adults, practical lessons on credit scores and the loan process.
“The Michigan Credit Union Foundation is proud to support projects like this that make financial education accessible to all ages,” said Andrea Tucker, MCUF Executive Director. “By combining creativity with practical learning, IFFCU and the M&M Children’s Museum are helping build stronger financial futures for local families.”
The partnership between IFFCU and the M&M Children’s Museum reflects a shared commitment to filling a gap in financial education while showcasing the unique community impact of credit unions.
