Several Michigan Credit Unions are Expanding Youth Financial Education with the Help of MCUF Community Enrichment Support Grants
The Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF) has provided Community Enrichment Support grants totaling more than $36,000 to five credit unions so far this year. Grant funding is assisting in the expansion of youth financial education through various programs and channels.
North Central Area CU, Service 1 FCU and TLC Community CU, all have partnered with Banzai to provide interactive financial literacy education to students in their communities. Banzai offers a range of courses and resources designed to teach essential money management skills through engaging, hands-on simulations.
Chief Financial CU is now working with My First Nest Egg, designed to teach young children about money and good financial habits. It focuses on helping kids understand earning, saving, spending and giving, making the concepts fun and engaging. The program offers a variety of tools, including an app, and interactive materials.
United Financial CU has partnered with Incent, a financial education platform primarily designed for youth, that aims to engage and educate about responsible financial habits through a combination of financial education and gamification. It offers a secure, real-world banking experience that mirrors actual banking services, while providing tools for learning.
“The Michigan Credit Union Foundation is proud to support innovative efforts made by credit unions to pilot financial education products and programs that meet the evolving needs of their members,” said MCUF Executive Director Andrea Tucker. “By investing in these initiatives, we’re helping to build strong financial futures and advance the credit union mission of people helping people.”
