YOU Conference Attendees Give Back with Toiletry Drive for Mel Trotter Ministries
At last week’s YOU Conference, attendees were invited to donate unused toiletry items, either brought from home or gathered from their hotel rooms, as part of a grassroots effort to support the local community. The response was generous, resulting in a full basket of items (plus some) donated to Mel Trotter Ministries in downtown Grand Rapids.
The donation was received by Charisa Baker, director of intake services at Mel Trotter. The items will be used directly in their shelter facilities to support men experiencing homelessness. Baker said that most men that come to Mel Trotter don’t have much with them, especially hygiene essentials.
Mel Trotter Ministries serves nearly 50 individuals each night, providing not only emergency shelter but also a range of services, including prevention and diversion programs, job assistance and support in finding permanent housing.
This simple act of kindness made a meaningful impact. There will be another drive at the upcoming ACE25 event.
