The strength of the Michigan credit union movement lies in its 185 credit unions. These institutions, with thousands of exceptional leaders, collaborate to serve our 6 million members effectively. As an MCUL member, your affiliation extends beyond us to include all 185 Michigan credit unions. Together, in partnership with our national association, we form a powerful network of credit union advocates and reliable financial partners.
Thank you for your steadfast support of the Michigan Credit Union League in 2024. Our 90th year was filled with advocacy efforts, education events and many conversations in between that gave us perspective on where we’ve been and purpose for where we’re headed.
There was no shortage of legislative challenges this year, including the threats of the Credit Card Competition Act, Interchange Reform or garnishment collection reforms. On top of those defense efforts, we also worked to secure significant funding for programs like the Community Development Financial Institute Fund and the Michigan Saves Program. These legislative battles and community-based funds were integral to the Michigan credit union movement’s mission to make our state a better place.
