Alliance Catholic Supports Mothers in Need Through Annual Charity Drive
Alliance Catholic Credit Union partnered with Alliance Catholic Foundation and Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan in May to collect baby items and monetary donations for Walking with Moms in Need, a national initiative that increases support for pregnant and parenting mothers.
This was the credit union’s fourth year participating in the drive, which takes place each May during a time the Catholic Church dedicates to honoring Mary, the Mother of God.
To support the effort, Alliance Catholic placed collection boxes in branches and encouraged staff to decorate them with baby-themed displays as part of a friendly internal competition. The displays helped raise awareness, and in one instance, inspired a donor to give after learning more about the cause. The individual later shared that he had recently been blessed financially and, after reviewing the Walking with Moms in Need and Alliance Catholic Foundation websites, chose to make his donation there.
In addition to monetary donations, the St. Cyprian Catholic Church Crafters contributed handmade items to support the effort. Their contributions reflected the broader community's commitment to providing care and dignity to families in need.
The campaign raised more than $5,000 and collected diapers, clothes, bottles, pacifiers, toys and toiletries. These items will be distributed to local pregnancy resource centers that serve mothers and children across Southeast Michigan.
Alliance Catholic serves the Catholic community across Michigan with 12 branch locations, including Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Madonna University, Melvindale, Rochester, Shelby Township, Sterling Heights, Southwest Detroit, Taylor, Troy, West Bloomfield and the University of Detroit Mercy.
