Northland Area and WBKB TV Win Statewide Award

nafcuNorthland Area Federal Credit Union recently announced a statewide award for a fraud video titled "Safeguard Your Future with Northland" from last fall.  WBKB TV, a production partner, submitted this video on Northland's behalf to the Michigan Associations of Broadcaster's Broadcast Excellence Awards, and it won Best Commercial in Market 4 region. WBKB also won multiple awards.

Casey Jones, President/CEO of the MAB in the award video, said, "This is our 29th year awarding broadcast excellence, recognizing the very best work in commercial and public TV and radio over the past year. We had nearly 1,000 entries, 991, which is the most we have ever received in this competition."

Northland's video featured the dangers of scammers trying to steal money through text messaging. The filming location was near Sytek Park on the Thunder Bay River in Alpena and included Northland's iconic Sasquatch.

"Our video concepts are conceived and developed in-house with our own marketing team, and WBKB helped us produce the commercial with their talented staff," said Assistant Vice President of Marketing Matt Duthler. "Our goal is to make unique, eye-catching content so we can best inform the public of the rise of fraud attempts and techniques."

Northland and WBKB have a common ground in the Air Force. Northland Area opened in 1957 on Wurtsmith Air Force Base with less than $100 and now has 17 branches and serves over 44,000 members in 27 Northern Michigan counties.
