Opportunity for Michigan CDFIs: Apply Now for Solar for Savings Grants
Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is offering a renewed chance for CDFIs to lead the state’s clean energy equity movement. Under the MI Solar for All (MI SFA) initiative — funded by a $156 million EPA grant — EGLE’s Solar for Savings pilot is awarding $8.875 million, with an additional $20 million now available to support innovative residential and community solar projects.
Among many objectives, these grants aim to:
- Deliver at least 20% energy bill savings to low-income households
- Enhance energy resilience and ownership pathways
- Strengthen quality, equity-focused solar installations
- Spur workforce development and local investment
- Develop educational opportunities to support Michigan communities
Important Update: Applications are currently open for the third round, closing Sept. 30, 2025. Awards are being issued on a first-come, first-served basis, so timing is critical.
