PSCU Answers Viral TikTok, Helps Student Stay on Track to Graduate
When Paris, a Wayne State University undergraduate student, turned to TikTok for help finishing her final year in college, she never expected her story would reach the CEO of a local credit union. But it did; and the response changed everything.
After watching Paris’ heartfelt video and visiting her GoFundMe campaign, Dean Trudeau, CEO of Public Service Credit Union (PSCU), was deeply moved by her courage and determination. He made the decision to cover the remaining nearly $3,000 she needed to stay enrolled and complete her degree. PSCU shared its response in a TikTok video, celebrating Paris and powerful ripple effects of social media while demonstrating its values in action.
“This is who we are, people helping people” said Dean Trudeau. “At PSCU, we believe in listening deeply, acting with purpose, and investing in people. Paris didn’t just need financial support, she needed to know someone believed in her. We’re honored to be part of her journey.”
Paris’ story aligns perfectly with PSCU’s mission: to educate, equip, and empower people to take control of their future and achieve their goals. Her determination embodies the values PSCU lives every day: listening, serving, supporting, and celebrating the real people behind every account number.
“When we say ‘your story matters,’ we mean it,” Trudeau added. “This wasn’t about a transaction, it was about connection. Paris’ story reminded us of the power we all have to show up for each other, and how community can lift people when it matters most.”
Paris is now set to begin her final year and PSCU, along with a growing online community, is cheering her every step of the way.
