MSUFCU CEO Honored as 2023 Crain’s Detroit Business Newsmaker
MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) President/CEO April Clobes was honored this month as one of ten recipients of the 2023 Crain’s Detroit Business Newsmakers of the Year during a luncheon ceremony at the MGM Grand Detroit.
Individuals are selected for their influence on moving the metro Detroit region and state forward during the year. According to the publication, Clobes was chosen “because of her leadership and vision behind the growth of MSUFCU but also in the credit union market in general.”
“I was honored to be recognized as a 2023 Crain’s Detroit Business Newsmaker of the Year with a group of dedicated leaders,” said Clobes. “Despite a challenging economic year, MSU Federal Credit Union continued to invest in what is important, our people and technology. Our dedication to serving our membership and communities led to many opportunities throughout last year.
“Some of our most exciting 2023 initiatives included an announcement to expand in the Chicagoland area by opening five branch locations, acquiring two community banks in the Chicago suburbs, and our entry into the Detroit market through our Congress Street branch,” Clobes continued. “Our success would not be possible without the support of our volunteer Board of Directors, members, and employees.”
Clobes joined the credit union in 1996 as a marketing specialist and moved through several positions in the organization before being named president and CEO in 2015. She also serves as CEO of Reseda Group, MSUFCU’s wholly owned Credit Union Service Organization formed in 2021. Clobes has a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing from Michigan State University, a Master of Arts degree from Michigan State University in advertising, and a Master of Business Administration from Western Michigan University.
Named as one of the Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions by American Banker, Clobes has been a transformational leader for technology in the credit union industry. She serves on multiple advisory boards that support the business and credit union communities.
