PFCU Visits Schools to Celebrate "March is Reading Month"

pfcuDuring the month of March, in honor of National Reading Month, PFCU Credit Union visited local schools to join in on the celebration of reading.

Education Specialist Maddy Shellberg, as well as additional staff throughout the credit union, visited more than 30 classes of local elementary schools in Ionia, Genesee, Kent and Shiawassee counties.

These engaging visits included a story time with PFCU’s very own book, Dollar Duck Saves His Bucks and a special visit from PFCU’s mascot, Dollar Duck. In addition to emphasizing the importance of reading, these visits also opened up the discussion of saving, a crucial piece of financial health, even at a young age.

“It’s exciting to be able to connect with students in our communities and share the joy of reading while tying in the importance of saving,” said Shellberg. “By partnering with local schools every March, we hope to share our passion for learning, reading and creativity by making it fun and engaging for the kids.”
