CU House's Groundbreaking Modernization Event
Today, Credit Union House hosted a groundbreaking event, publicly launching a transformative modernization project that will redefine the credit union movement’s presence on Capitol Hill. Attendees were given an exclusive virtual look at the vision for the revitalized space, which will serve as a hub for advocacy, collaboration, and innovation.
Since its establishment in 2001, Credit Union House has been a cornerstone of credit union advocacy, and a home base where industry leaders unite, policies take shape, and the impact of the movement is amplified. Now, more than two decades later, this vital space is undergoing a bold transformation designed to elevate the way credit unions engage with lawmakers and influence the future of financial policy.
“This dynamic modernization will revitalize credit unions’ influence, importance, and presence at the epicenter where federal advocacy happens,” said Troy Stang, Credit Union House Board Chair, and President and CEO of GoWest Credit Union Association. “It’s no secret that credit union advocacy is evolving. Every policymaker who joins us at the Credit Union House in the future will not just ‘hear’ about credit unions; they will see, feel, and experience the Movement and fully understand why 140 million of their constituents have chosen credit unions across America as their financial partners.”
The modernization project includes state-of-the-art immersive technology, real-time data insights, and expanded meeting spaces to better support the growing number of credit union advocates visiting Washington, D.C. The goal is to create an interactive, high-tech experience that ensures the credit union difference is impossible to ignore.
“For over 23 years, Credit Union House has served as a bridge between Main Street America and national leaders,” noted Credit Union House Managing Director Sue McCue. “This isn’t just about updating a building—it’s about designing a forward-thinking space that meets the demands of today and anticipates the needs of tomorrow.”
Champions of the Modernization
The League System is leading this initiative, but the vision is shared across the entire credit union ecosystem. Several key partners, including America’s Credit Unions, TruStage, Velera, BECU, Redwood Credit Union and Origence, have already made contributions toward the project.
“The Credit Union House is an integral part of credit unions' storied advocacy legacy, and America's Credit Unions is proud to support this modernization project. Our history is important, and this project will continue to move us forward, helping to tell the credit union difference to future generations and strengthen our relationships with lawmakers and officials," said Patrick Pierce, America's Credit Unions Board Chair and President and CEO of City & County Credit Union.
