CU Spark Tank Finalists Take the Stage at ACE26, Alexa Irvine Named Champion

Spark 1Innovation took center stage at ACE26 as five CU Spark Tank finalists presented their ideas live, advancing from a competitive semifinal round of 12 participants.

Each finalist had seven minutes to pitch their concept, showcasing bold ideas designed to strengthen credit unions, enhance member experiences and move the movement forward. After deliberation, Alexa Irvine of TRUE Community Credit Union was named the CU Spark Tank Champion, with Evan Kingsbury earning Runner-Up honors.

The five finalists brought forward a diverse range of ideas:

Alexa Irvine – Compass (Winner)
Alexa Irvine’s winning concept, Compass, reimagines digital banking by putting conversation and guidance at the center of the member experience. Through simple, ongoing check-ins, Compass is designed to better understand member goals, deliver more relevant support and build stronger, trust-based relationships.

Evan Kingsbury – Mortgage Innovation (Runner-Up)Alexa
Evan Kingsbury’s concept addresses housing affordability challenges for members relocating after years of homeownership. His proposed mortgage solution is designed to ease transitions, retain members and strengthen credit union portfolios.

 

 

Tyler Bigger – Gig Worker Financial Solutions
Tyler Bigger’s presentation focused on supporting gig workers through tailored financial tools. His concept includes cash flow-based underwriting, expense tracking integrations and mobile-first solutions to help members manage unpredictable income and expenses.

Jacob Purman – ELIMinate Hunger
Jacob Purman’s concept proposes a credit union-led network of community gardens aimed at increasing access to fresh, healthy food in underserved communities. By leveraging branches, volunteers and partnerships, the idea reinforces the credit union commitment to community impact.

Kelly Alexander – Financial Education Initiative
Kelly Alexander’s presentation emphasized the importance of dedicated financial education within credit unions. Her concept focuses on building long-term financial confidence through proactive member support, strengthening relationships and improving financial wellness outcomes.

From digital innovation to community impact and workforce solutions, this year’s finalists showcased the creativity and purpose driving the credit union movement.

The CU Spark Tank competition continues to highlight emerging leaders and bold ideas, reinforcing the movement’s commitment to people helping people.
