Dow Credit Union Partners With Greenlight to Support Youth Financial Education
Dow Credit Union has launched a partnership with Greenlight® Financial Technology, Inc. ("Greenlight") to better serve families and help the next generation build healthy financial futures. Through the Greenlight for Credit Unions program, Dow Credit Union members can receive free access to Greenlight's award-winning family finance app, along with a 2% Greenlight Savings Reward Bonus.
"This partnership represents an important step forward in how we empower families with smarter financial tools," said Amy Mikolaiczik, Director of Digital Operations at Dow Credit Union. "By combining Greenlight's expertise in youth financial education with innovative digital services, we're making it easier for parents and kids to build healthy money habits together—safely, confidently, and in real time."
The partnership comes as financial literacy remains a priority for families. According to survey findings cited by Greenlight, 91% of kids and teens believe they need financial knowledge and skills to achieve their life goals, while 94% of parents agree. However, only 35 states require a personal finance course for students, and teens score an average of 64% on the National Financial Literacy Test, highlighting ongoing gaps in financial education.
Additional survey data found that parents rank personal finance as the most difficult life skill to teach their children, with 81% saying they wish they had access to more financial education tools and resources.
Greenlight offers a debit card and app designed to help kids and teens learn how to earn, save, give and spend wisely with parental supervision. Parents can use the app to send money, automate allowance payments, manage chores, establish spending controls and receive real-time notifications for transactions. Young users gain hands-on money management experience and access to Greenlight Level Up™, an in-app financial literacy game featuring educational challenges, curriculum-based learning and rewards.
"At Dow Credit Union, we believe in the power of financial literacy to shape the future of our community," said Michael Goad, President and CEO at Dow Credit Union. "This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation with the skills necessary for financial success and well-being. We are proud to support our young members and their families on this important journey towards financial literacy."
