Forbes Names Michigan’s Top 11 Credit Unions for 2026
Forbes has once again partnered with market research firm Statista to release its annual list of America’s Best-In-State Credit Unions. The 2026 rankings recognize credit unions across the country that earned high marks from members for satisfaction, trust, service, digital tools and financial guidance.
This year, 11 Michigan credit unions earned a spot on the list:
- PFCU
- Genisys Credit Union
- Family Financial Credit Union
- Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union
- Christian Financial Credit Union
- Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union
- Vibe Credit Union
- Arbor Financial Credit Union
- Credit Union ONE
- Lake Michigan Credit Union
- Dort Financial Credit Union
How the Rankings Were Determined
Forbes and Statista surveyed approximately 26,000 U.S. residents about financial institutions where they currently have a checking or savings account, had an account within the past three years or knew through friends and family. Participants rated institutions based on overall satisfaction and likelihood to recommend, along with factors including trust, customer service, digital tools, financial advice and fee transparency.
Statista also analyzed more than 1.2 million publicly available online reviews and ratings from February 2023 through March 2026. Survey results accounted for 80% of each institution’s score, while online reviews accounted for the remaining 20%.
Nationwide, 246 unique credit unions were recognized in one or more states as part of Forbes’ 2026 rankings.
