International Credit Union Day 2026 Set for Oct. 15
Credit unions around the world will come together on Oct. 15 to celebrate International Credit Union Day, an annual event recognizing the impact of the global credit union movement and the people it serves. First observed in 1948, the celebration highlights credit unions' commitment to improving members' financial well-being and strengthening communities through the cooperative model.
The 2026 theme,"Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World," emphasizes the role credit unions play in providing trusted financial services and guidance amid an increasingly complex financial landscape. World Council of Credit Unions and Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions encourage credit unions to mark the occasion through community events, volunteer activities, member engagement initiatives and social media outreach.
To support celebrations, organizers have made marketing materials, promotional resources and social media assets available for participating credit unions. Credit unions are also encouraged to share their celebrations using the hashtag #ICUDay2026.
